Getting Outdoors - The Ultimate Guide | Part 1

Getting outdoors shouldn't feel like a chore; it should be an inspiring adventure. Unfortunately, for many, it's become just a backdrop for Instagram and social media posts. Yesterday, I got a refreshing reminder of nature's wonders at the Banff Mountain Film Festival (banff-uk.com). The event showcased a series of captivating short films by European filmmakers and adventurers, sharing incredible stories that reignited my passion for exploring the outdoors. I’d love to share this inspiring experience with you.

The First Step:

While watching these daring Europeans take on their extreme sports, I thought to myself, "They must genuinely love doing this!" The first step to achieving anything in life is learning to love it. When I first started dinghy sailing, I absolutely hated going out on the water because there was always something that seemed better and more fun, like the giant pot of cheesy chips with beans at my sailing club—honestly, the best food I've ever had. To go sailing, I had to leave the snack bar behind and hop on the water. Keep in mind, I was only six or seven, so that was one of the toughest challenges I faced at that stage of my life. But I pushed through it, and now I look forward to sailing every weekend and spending time on the water. Overcoming the tough stuff is always the first step toward reaching your goals, so remember to tackle that hurdle first.

Before I end this article I highly recommend attending the next screening of the Banff Mountain Film Festival that happens once a year in the spring! Tap the button below to find out more!
