About The James Brief

The James Brief is an independent environmental journalism platform created to help people understand, care about and take action for our planet.

The environmental crisis can feel overwhelming. Climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution and habitat destruction are huge, complicated issues, and it can be difficult to know what is actually happening or what we can do about it.

That is where The James Brief comes in.

I created The James Brief to make environmental news clear, accessible and engaging, while also showing that there is still hope. Through articles, investigations, explainers and positive environmental stories, I explore what is happening to our planet, why it matters and the people working to protect it.

The James Brief is also growing beyond the website. Through my Instagram, I share short environmental news briefs, explainers and stories designed to make important environmental issues easier to understand and follow.

I also write for The Village Magazine as a youth journalist, giving me the opportunity to report on stories beyond The James Brief and continue developing my journalism.

My goal is to use journalism to help create a generation that is informed, curious and motivated to protect the natural world.

I don't want The James Brief to only tell people that the planet is in trouble. I want it to explain why, investigate what is happening, highlight the people making a difference, and show that positive change is possible.

The planet is our story. I'm here to tell it.
